Cyan Sun Records is proud to present CSR-RE010, our first ever vinyl release, the 2020 Bagdadski Vor album "Kolhida"
Kolhida might just be the apex of "bright screamo". It's frantic but meticulously calculated, crushing but simultaneously soaring, and beautiful despite its brutality. The entire album meshes together into a cohesive package, but at the same time every song manages to hold onto a strong individual identity. The vocals are impassioned like no other, the guitar songwriting is dizzying, the bass playing is intoxicating and refreshing, and don't even get me started on the drumming. There's just too many good things to say about this album, I could go on forever!
This vinyl has been in the works for almost a year on the dot. After a couple of emails, the first video call between Bagdadski Vor and Cyan Sun Records occurred on March 26th, 2023. We wanted to take our time to make sure we got everything right and we believe that we have. Designs for the packaging were put mostly into the hands of the band, who wanted to go for a more minimal approach. I think it works quite well! As for the music, we got Will Killingsworth over at Dead Air Studios to master it and holy does it sound amazing. Not to sound biased but this is now one of the best sounding records in my entire collection and I can assure you it'll be one of the best sounding in your collection if you purchase one!
To be given the privilege to press this album to vinyl is a gift that I'm so grateful for. I want to thank all of Bagdadski Vor for entrusting me with this project and being a sort of "guinea pig" for Cyan Sun Records and our venture into vinyl. I want to thank Will Killingsworth for an amazing vinyl master, Lesya Chastova for assistance on the packaging, Jaeden Fuller for assisting me with promotional material, and everyone else who in some way helped in making this dream turn reality. Lastly, but most certainly not least, I want to thank everyone who has supported Cyan Sun Records over the last couple of years. Without you this pipe dream of an idea wouldn't have made it very far, and I'm forever appreciative to have people support my vision
